End of the Year Writing Ideas!

5.more.days.! I am excited for all things summer but I am going to miss my babies so much! I will be loving the water and the sun, but I will miss the days reading on the carpet inside. I will love spending time with my family and friends, but I will miss my teacher friends! I will relish in all the free time to catch up on Netflix and spending time with my couch, but I will miss all the little giggles of my little ones! It is truly a love hate feeling!

Although, we are having a TON of fun in these last few weeks, we are also doing a ton of fun writing! Why?!? Because I love to see all the progress my kiddos have made in their writing. Also, I love all the options that we have this time of year!

We are also writing a Diary of You writing. We read Diary of a Fly and the students are writing their own Diary. I bought these cute little books at Target in their dollar spot and the students are writing their heart away. They LOVE it! They are documenting the end of the year and they love that they are publishing their own books. Grab this unit here! Your students will love it!

Next week, we are having a camp out and the students are going to read their diary's around the fire to their friends! WOHOO!

We are also writing letters to our future selves! My teammate had the idea to send letters to them as 5th graders! Genius right?! I am going to keep their letters and when they leave our school in 5th grade, I am going to return them to the students! I also have teammates who are giving them to parents to give to the students when they graduate! THESE ARE ADORABLE! Like tears in your eyes, adorable! I die reading each one!

We read "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. Then, we went through our writing process to write to ourselves in the future! Grab this unit here, you need too!!!

The last writing we are going to do this year is a letter to the third graders next year! I love having my students write these letters and then I leave them on the desks next year at open house. I love seeing my cute new 3rd graders hearing from the "big kids" now! Grab this FREEBIE here, so your kiddos can write some fun! I gave this freebie out in my monthly newsletter. If you sign up HERE you will receive freebies like this each month!

I am also doing a little writing myself this year. I wrote a little letter to each kiddo. I am mailing it to their house this week and I can't wait to see their little faces when they see it! SO CUTE! Grab these cute cards at Target! ;)

Whew! We are doing a lot of writing. But, it is all so much fun that no one is even noticing that we are writing so much! I am loving it and so are the kids! I hope that you can enjoy some of these writing ideas with your kiddos at the end of the year!
